FAQs

Do you have work in my area?

The areas we cover are Warrington, Halton, Cheshire East & West, Wigan, Wirral & Merseyside. We look to devise timetables based around Tutors location, availability, subject knowledge and SEN experience to match the needs of the student. We aim to keep our Tutors as local as possible to avoid travel expenses.

What does your recruitment process involve?

We screen all candidates initially by phone to ensure their understanding of the services we provide matches the skills set, location and availability they can offer. Thereafter follows a vigorous and thorough face-to-face interview and in-depth compliance checks. Our compliance is Apsco+accredited and meets the highest standards. Once a Tutor has completed all the relevant checks and we are satisfied all aspects of safer recruitment have been met, we advise the Tutor and begin the process of allocating students.

How do I submit my timesheets?

You can complete your timesheet each week and send to our shared inbox each Friday by lunch time

How and when do I get paid?

You will be paid on a weekly basis.

How many hours can you offer me?

Whilst we can’t guarantee hours, we can build timetables around tutors’ lifestyle and availability and average 10-15 hours per week. Some Tutors want part time hours to fit in around another job/childcare whilst others want full time hours. We work to support individual Tutor requirements alongside student’s needs.

Can I get an enhanced DBS through you?

Yes, we are partnered with a company who we can put Tutors in contact with to organise their enhanced DBS checks. Tutors are advised to log on to the update service

Where does tuition take place?

Tuition takes place predominantly in community venues such as libraries, community centres, children’s centres , residential care home and occasionally in the student’s home. If a tuition takes place in the home an appropriate adult must be on the premises at all times

Is the work 1-1 or group work?

The vast majority of our support is on a 1-1 basis and is tailored to the individual needs of the students. Occasionally we are asked to support small groups and at those times we will check if Tutors are comfortable with this.

What subjects do I need to be able to teach?

In the main our Tutors are asked to support in core subjects ie English, Maths and Science. Any additional subject knowledge is always a welcome addition as is ESOL and functional skills. Tutors that have a background in psychology/mindfulness and specific SEN expertise are invaluable also
